CAUTIONS
The ramps weigh in excess of 100 pounds. DO NOT over exert yourself in attempting to lift them; get appropriate help.
USE CAUTION around protrusions and machined edges to preclude personal injury or property damage.
In particular, DO NOT run into the handles, and PROTECT hands and feet from cuts and pinches.
DO NOT walk on the expanded metal surface without shoes or with slick soled shoes.
USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN THE RAMP OR SHOES MAY BE SLICK DUE TO WATER, MUD, ICE, ETC.
DO NOT allow children (or adults) to play with or on the ramp.
USE COMMON SENSE AND CAUTION when loading or unloading articles or vehicles with the Safe-T-Ramp.
DO NOT exceed the load limit.
DO NOT move the truck unless the ramp is in the stowed, latched, and secured position.
Always insure that both Lynch pins and the Hitch pin are INSERTED and SECURED before lifting the ramp to mount or remove, or moving the vehicle.
Safe-T-Ramp MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS
- Insert the Receiver Mount into a 2" Receiver Hitch (Class III or IV). Pin and Secure with the locking pin in the adjustment hole that positions the vertical member closest to, but to the rear of, the lowered tailgate. Do not disconnect the truck tailgate tension chains or straps which support the tailgate.
- For safety, use at least two able people to lift the ramp (about 125 pounds) and insert (lower) the T- bar of the ramp into the Receiver Mount vertical member. The lip of the ramp will rest on the lowered tailgate. Adjust the telescoping horizontal and vertical members so that the lip of the ramp fits firmly over and against the tailgate, and tighten the two bolts, placing a flat washer under the head, and a flat washer and a lock washer under the nut. Use the 5/8" x 3" bolt on the verticle member, and the 5/8" x 4" bolt on the horizontal member.
- Use of a "bungie cords" or straps may be used for added stability in transit, and to "close" the gaps created by the lowered tailgate.
- If you plan to leave the ramp permanently in place, attach the license plate to the expanded metal deck.
Safe-T-Ramp OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS: (No tools are required)
- Remove stabilizing straps (item 3 above).
- Remove Lynch pins on both sides of panels. Replace and secure all pins so that they are not lost.
- When refolding the ramp, reinstall the two Lynch pins and stabilizing straps.
- Under reasonable operating conditions, One person can easily and safely unfold or refold the ramp. The Safe-T-Ramp may be lowered to the ground, or to a raised loading dock.
Safe-T-Ramp REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONS:
- Remove locking pin and Hitch Pin from the Receiver Hitch. For safety, use at least two able persons to pull the folded and latched ramp straight out of the Receiver Hitch. Replace Hitch Pin and locking pin in the Receiver. No tools are required.
- To reinstall the ramp on the original truck or another vehicle, lower the tailgate, and use at least two able persons to lift the folded ramp and slide it straight into the Receiver Hitch. No tools required. When changing vehicles, it may be necessary to loosen one or both of the bolts and adjust the ramp lip to rest on the lowered tail gate. Insert Hitch Pin and locking pin.
Safe-T-Tow MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS
- The Safe-T-Tow vertical adapter combines use of the Safe-T-Ramp and trailer towing (Fig. 1). The special mount keeps the Ball near the hitch, to prevent overloading the Receiver Hitch, and requires: (a) a Ball Hitch Draw Bar which protrudes about 2.5" beyond the rear bumper and (b) a removable tailgate.
- Remove the tailgate. Slid the Safe-T-Tow over the Draw Bar, and lightly tighten the ½" x 4" bolt. Pin the Draw Bar in the Receiver Hitch so that the Safe-T-Tow is about flush with the rear bumper. (Fig. 2)
- Stabilization of the ramp can be done inexpensively using ¾" x 4'x 8' Marine plywood, cut to the proper length and placed in the cargo box. A wooden block can be attached to the under side of the plywood to give support off of the bumper. (Figure 3)
- For safety, use at least two able people to lift the ramp (about 120 - 140 pounds), and insert (lower) the stub of the ramp into the Safe-T-Tow. Push the lip of the ramp firmly against the plywood. Secure the ramp in the Safe-T-Tow with the 5/8" x 3" bolt, placing a flat washer under the head, and a flat washer and a lock washer under the nut. Tighten the ½" bolt of the Safe-T-Tow.
- Ramp may be bolted to the plywood by match drilling. (Fig. 2)
- Use a "bungie cord" or strap to stabilize the ramp in transit and provide added safety and stability, but DO NOT over-stress the hinge joint
Safe-T-Trail MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS
- The Safe-T-Trail ramps bolt directly to the bed of a trailer or flatbed truck. The 90o lip of the ramp fits against the back of the bed. If the bed is not square, some modification may be necessary
- For safety, use at least two able people to lift the ramp (about 120 - 140 pounds) in place. Locate at least 4 holes to be match drilled in the ramp lip and the vehicle bed to accommodate bolts.
- Use a "bungie cord" or strap to stabilize the ramp in transit, but Do Not over-stress the hinge joint. This is essential with the 8' (R8T) ramp.
- You may attach the license plate to the expanded metal deck.
Safe-T-Trail OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS: (No tools are required)
- Remove stabilizing straps (item 3 above).
- Remove Lynch pins on both sides of panels. Replace and secure all pins so that they are not lost.
- Under reasonable operating conditions, One person can easily and safely unfold or refold the ramp. The Safe-T-Ramp may be lowered to the ground, or to a raised loading dock.
- When refolding the ramp, reinstall the two Lynch pins and stabilizing straps.
